GROUP CLASSES

Join other committed pet parents in receiving the professional coaching of our experienced trainers, as you embark on your training journey. Whether you are new to dog ownership, or are a seasoned pro looking to add to your dog's repertoire of skills, we have a course designed for you! Group classes may vary in length between 4 to 6 weeks, during which time you will learn the techniques and principles that hundreds of our graduates have used to expand their dog's world and potential. Group classes are a wonderful way to provide safe and stable socialization opportunities, as you and your dog will be working with our staff in various settings. Creating reinforcing experiences in the presence of stimuli such as other dogs of all ages, breeds, and sizes can assist in proactively reducing likelihood of developing leash reactivity and help your dog to find reward in engaging with you as their trusted partner. This setting is not often appropriate for reducing undesired behavior if your pup is already struggling with reactivity to dogs or other people, and in order to ensure a conducive environment for learning, it will be required that you book an in person evaluation with us to assess your pup's fit for the level of group class you would like to enroll in.  Group classes can be an ideal choice for the owner who would like to learn how to teach your dog to be successful in various settings, to increase their own confidence as well as build a rock solid relationship with your dog at each step in the learning process. Currently, we offer 3 levels of group classes:

Beginner: Over 4 -6 weeks, teams will gain proficiency with obedience tasks such as sit, down, heel, short recall, and beginnings of placework. We will discuss principles of reinforcement and teach how to use your dog's preferred motivators to teach new behaviors, in conjunction with utilizing training markers on which a strong foundation for obedience can be built.

Intermediate: In this course, teams will work on impulse control skills as well as continued engagement and bond-building with distractions that are commonly found in most dog-friendly settings. We will cover conditioning of training tools, where applicable, to create solid systems of communication between dog and owner. Intermediate skills include building duration and distance in sit, down, place, recall, and leave it, and peaceful loose-leash walking. This class is great preparation for teams looking to achieve a Canine Good Citizen title.

Advanced: In our advanced group class, handler teams will solidify obedience and proof for off-leash reliability with the use of a remote collar in various environments. Duration, distance, and increased distractions to proof obedience commands such as sit, down, heel, place, and recall will be the main focus of this course. By graduation, handler teams will be able to show clear, reliable communication and confidence in their dog in public environments off-leash.
