More than a dog trainer

In today's world, it seems like dog trainers are a dime a dozen, and because the industry is unregulated it can be exceedingly difficult to determine who to trust with not only a significant investment of your time and money, but more importantly, a member of your family. It is critical that there is a connection between owner, trainer, and dog in order to see the best results from training. If I'm not your cup of tea (I'm a coffee girl myself), that is OKAY. I wish you the best of luck in finding an authentic connection with someone who is. That being said... who IS behind Kyber K9?

Hi, I'm Ari.

I am a person (note, not just a dog trainer), with depth beyond any one facet that you may see me in. I am a college graduate, a sister, a giant nerd, an athlete, a daughter, a friend, a shoulder to lean on, and a coach to kick your ass into gear when you need it, among many other things. I bring a hefty sprinkle of dog hair, pockets full of toys and treat dust, and my most authentic self everywhere that I go. I love dogs, and I really love the study of behavior... so I guess I'm a dog trainer, right? There's a little more to it than that though...

I train because i love seeing people overcome challenges and ignite a new hope for what they believed was possible for them with their dogs. I ask everyone to envision experiences or activities that they dream of doing with their dog, and we start working towards whatever the answer may be. There are endless paths that will lead to achieving any goal, but I believe that acting boldly with intention will almost always get you there.

I have had terrifyingly reactive dogs, dogs who were rescued, dogs who came with overwhelming genetic potential, dogs with selective behavior, dogs with severe separation anxiety, and even dogs that were just damn good dogs. I have BEEN where you are now, and I want to help you see your own new galaxy of possibilities. If you would have stuck your head through a rip in the space-time continuum and told my 10 years ago what my life would look like now, there's no chance I would have believed you.

A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away... I studied Applied Behavior Analysis at the masters level, and gained extensive experience in working with people who have disabilities or struggles with their mental health. I worked every day to build effective communication systems, design uniquely tailored structured behavior supports, and build solidity in new skills through daily repetition and reinforcement. After a few years, politics and glass ceilings in the behavioral health industry left me feeling crippled, limited by insurance authorizations in helping my clients achieve their potential as well as my own professional potential. I love the behavioral science, but I needed to feel like I could make a meaningful impact... so I turned to the dog side.

I use principles of behavior analysis within my training, using all four quadrants of behavior. This means that I use a range of tools in my work with each dog including treats, toys, affection, prong collars, e collars, and crates. I believe that success is found through true balance between structure and outlets, time spent teaching dogs and time teaching owners, accountability and grace, etc. In today's polarized dog training industry, I'm working to bring balance back to dog training.
